Logan star Taylor Horton leads Lady Vols to first win over Vincennes in 9 years

John A. Logan women’s basketball star guard Taylor Horton has been on a roll of late.  In the past five games, Horton has scored 30+ in four of those games.  That includes Saturday’s 76-73 victory over Vincennes.  The last time the Logan women’s basketball team defeated Vincennes was on February 9, 2016.

Horton scored 39 points in the win, one of the best scoring performances in Lady Vols history; the school record for points in a game is held by Lashonda Albert when she scored 43 points in a 115-110 overtime loss to Connors State College in the NJCAA 6th place game on March 21, 1996.

Horton nailed a total of nine three-pointers en route to her 39 points, going 9-13 from beyond the arc.  Those nine threes ties Emily Holmes for the second most threes made in a single game by a Lady Vol.

Holmes also holds the record for most threes.  She made 10 treys on January 4, 2019 against Lindenwood-Bellville JV in a 124-32 victory.

Horton and the Lady Vols (8-11, 2-4) are now on a three-game win-streak.  They’ll look to keep it alive against the top team in the GRAC this Wednesday night, #7 Wabash Valley (19-2, 7-0).  Tipoff is at 5pm.  The game will be broadcast on 1035espn.com and the 103.5 ESPN App.
