MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) – The driver of a car that sped away from a traffic stop died after crashing the car a short time later.
Around 1:30 am Tuesday, a Murphysboro Police Officer tried to pull over the vehicle. The driver sped away, later crashing near South 14th and Spruce Streets, in Murphysboro. The driver died at the scene. A passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Names have not been released.
The Illinois State Police are leading the investigation.
