MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Police say alcohol was a factor in a single vehicle rollover crash in Williamson County.
At about 1:45 a.m. Sunday, police say Homer Borrego hit an embankment along South Market Road and became airborne. Police say the pickup he was driving flew about 70 feet before landing in someone’s front yard and rolling multiple times. No injuries were reported. Borrego and two passengers all declined medical treatment.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from both the truck and the driver. And, witnesses told deputies they saw Borrego and company throwing beer bottles out of the wrecked truck and away from the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Homer Borrego failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI.
