The SIU Softball team had a rough start to the season over the weekend at the Tiger Invitational at Auburn. The Salukis started the weekend with an 0-4 record. But Sunday provided one final chance to leave Auburn, Alabama with a win.
Matched up with Appalachian State, the Salukis run-ruled their opponent 11-2 to pick up their first win of the season.
Junior shortstop Jackie Lis led the way with her first and second home runs of the season. The homers moved her into a tie for #3 all-time for career home runs at SIU. Lis is now tied with Jenny Jansen with 35 career home runs. The SIU record for career home runs is 39.
The Salukis are back in action this weekend at the Snowman Tournament in Starkville, Mississippi – hosted by Mississippi State.
