Saturday night was a special night for the Pinckneyville Panthers. The Panthers continued their dominance in boys basketball by collecting their 2,100th program victory – a total few schools in Illinois and the United States have reached.
The win came against the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats, a 72-42 home win. The victory also guaranteed the Panthers at least a share of the SIRR Mississippi Division.
Not only was it a big win for the program, 2nd year head coach Matt Laur collected his 50th win with Pinckneyville. Laur is 50-11 in his tenure as Panthers head coach. He is 227-160 in his career with stops at Freeburg and Steeleville before being hired at Pinckneyville ahead of the 2023-24 season.
