Williamson County man facing multiple charges after leading police on a high speed chase

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a high speed chase.

Rex Summers of Williamson County was arrested Thursday February 27, after police witnessed Summers get into a vehicle and head eastbound on Corinth Road from 12th Street in Johnston City.  Summers was known to law enforcement to have a revoked driver’s license.

When officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, he fled, committing multiple traffic offenses and reaching speeds of 115 miles per hour. Officers ended the chase, set up a perimeter, and later found his car at a home on Sommers Church Road. Deputies used Stop Sticks to prevent another escape, and Summers was taken into custody.

He faces charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving while license revoked, reckless driving, obstructing justice, reckless conduct, driving on right side of roadway, disobeying stop sign x2, and failure to use turn signal.
