CARBONDALE, Ill. – The 2025 Southern Illinois football schedule was released today and features five home games, including a Family Weekend contest with Indiana State (Oct. 4) and a Homecoming matchup with Northern Iowa (Oct. 25).
The Salukis will play 12 games in 2025 and open the season at home on Aug. 30 versus Division II Thomas More.
A challenging non-conference schedule also includes a trip to Big Ten Purdue (Sept. 6), and road games against the defending Ohio Valley Conference-Big South co-champions – UT Martin (Sept. 13) and SEMO (Sept. 20).
SIU has played Purdue just once before, losing in 2014, 35-13. The Salukis are 8-1 all-time versus UT Martin with the last meeting in 2019. The trip to Cape Girardeau to play the Redhawks will renew one of the oldest rivalries in college football in the annual War For the Wheel, in a series that dates back to 1909.
The Salukis open the Missouri Valley Football Conference slate versus Indiana State and then travel to defending national champion North Dakota State (Oct. 11).
Southern plays back-to-back home games versus North Dakota (Oct. 18) and Northern Iowa (Oct. 25), before closing out the regular season with three out of four games on the road – at Murray State (Nov. 1), at Youngstown State (Nov. 8), versus South Dakota (Nov. 15) and at Illinois State (Nov. 22).
The Salukis recently began spring practices and will host the annual Spring Game on April 19 at 11 a.m.
Season-ticket renewals will be delivered later this spring, and kickoff times for the fall will be announced at a later date.
