CARBONDALE, Ill. – Head coach Kelly Bond-White of the Southern Illinois University women’s basketball team has announced the signing of Kynnedi Davis, a 5-foot-7 guard from Brandon, Miss.
Davis comes to SIU after spending the previous two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College.
“After playing a year without and not returning a point guard, we spent a lot of time making sure we had the right fits at this position,” Bond-White said. “I am thrilled Kynnedi is a part of the Saluki family. Another winner, coming from Trinity Valley, a storied championship program.”
Over the course of her two-year career at Trinity Valley, Davis played in 60 games and made 55 starts, averaging 9.0 points-per-game. In her second year, the guard averaged 10.6 points. 3.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists-per-game in 27 appearances.
Davis was an All-Conference selection in year two and won the Region 14 title her freshman year. During this run, Davis and her team also reached the national tournament.
The Brandon, Miss. native is a scoring first, floor general point guard who is also able to create downhill.
“A strong guard that uses her body well, can score from all three levels, be disruptive on defense, and sees the floor very well. She is a great addition to our Saluki family,” Bond-White said.
Davis intends on studying nursing once she arrives at Southern Illinois.
