Governor Bruce Rauner says if an official request is made, he will send Illinois National Guard troops to the county’s southern border.
President Donald Trump announced using guard troops to assist border patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border to stem the flow of illegal immigration.
Gov. Bruce Rauner told reporters in Springfield Tuesday he’d grant the president’s request for Illinois if one were made.
Rauner said no official request has been made by the Trump administration, but if one were, he’d honor the request.
