Multiple new cases of COVID-19 reported in southern Illinois Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — 1,140 new cases of COVID-19 were announced Thursday in Illinois, including 125 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 25,733 cases, including 1,072 deaths, in 90 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.

Four new cases were reported in southern Illinois:

Alexander County

One case of COVID-19 was reported Thursday in Alexander County.

  • A female in her fifties is at home in isolation

This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Alexander County.

 

Jefferson County

One new case of COVID-19 was reported Thursday in Jefferson County.

  • A female in her sixties is at home in isolation

To date, there have been eleven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County, including one death.

 

Randolph County

Three new cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday in Randolph County, including the one death.

Local public health officials have not disclosed the age, gender, or condition of the cases.

To date, there have been fifty confirmed cases in Randolph County, including one death. Thirty-one individuals have recovered enough to be released from isolation.

 

Union County

One new case of COVID-19 was reported Thursday in Union County.

  • A male in his forties is at home in isolation

To date, there have been four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Union County.
