Senior Hot Shot: Tyler Butler

Tyler Butler was well known on the football field as a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the ball, playing nearly every snap on both offense and defense.  He plowed through opponents with a 7 yard per carry average to help lead the Rangers to the state playoffs.  And he was propped to help propel the Benton Rangers in his favorite sport, baseball, spring before COVID-19 hit.  Butler has been a standout at third base and as a pitcher for the Rangers.

“Tyler was ready for a big senior year,” says Benton coach Brett Blondi.  “Tyler had been putting in a lot of work in preparing for the season. His throwing velocity and hitting velocity both had us certain he would improve upon his All South season from his junior year.”

Butler had a huge moment in 2018 as a sophomore when he hit a walkoff single to score his teammate in the 10th inning and send the Rangers to the 2A Sauget SuperSectionals.

According to family, Butler has received multiple offers to play at the collegiate level but has yet to commit anywhere.

If you know a senior athlete (high school or college!) who’s season was cut short due to the Coronavirus please nominate them on our Senior Hot Shots page for a chance to be recognized!
