PLAINVIEW, Ill. (WJPF) — Former State Senator and gubernatorial candidate Sam McCann has pleaded not guilty to federal charges alleging he illegally spent campaign contributions.
The 51-year-old Republican entered his not guilty plea Tuesday. He’s being represented by a public defender.
Federal prosecutors say McCann spent over $200,000 of campaign funds on personal items, including multiple vehicles, and to pay off personal debts.
