MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – It looks like there will only be one Ashley Gott running for treasurer in Williamson County.
Last week, it was discovered that two Ashley Gott’s had filed petitions to be on the primary ballot.
The “first” Ashley Gott, a man, was appointed treasurer in 2019. He is now running for reelection. The “second: Ashley Gott, a woman, was formerly known as Erin Perry. She changed her name in January.
After filing two sets of nominating petitions, one for Erin Perry and one for Ashley Gott, the “second” Ashley Gott withdrew them both and had not refiled as of Monday, March 14, the deadline to file nominating petitions in order to get on the ballot.
Incumbent treasurer Ashley Gott will face Rob Underwood in the June Republican primary.
