Williamson County State’s Attorney cited for DUI

Brandon Zanotti

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti has been cited for driving under the influence.

In an open letter to the residents of Williamson County, Zanotti says he was initially pulled over for speeding Saturday night while driving home from a friend’s house. Zanotti admits he had been drinking, but says he firmly believed he was not impaired when he got behind the wheel.

A special prosecutor will handle any charges against Zanotti, who says he will plead guilty and accept the same punishment as any other member of the public would receive.

Zanotti says he’s ashamed and embarrassed over the incident, but has made no mention of resigning his job as state’s attorney.
