ST. LOUIS – Southern Illinois shortstop Kaeber Rog has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the week, the League office announced Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly award for the Salukis this season.
Rog’s bat came to life for the Salukis over the last week as he led the team with a .500 average, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and a .550 on-base percentage. The senior belted a pair of home runs, had three doubles, and scored seven runs as Southern finished the week 3-1, including a series win on the road at Valparaiso.
A Willemstad, Curacao native, Rog recorded multiple hits in three games, including a trio of three-hit games. Rog collected 18 total bases to lead the squad and drove in four runs for SIU.
