Suspect Named in Non-Fatal Shooting in Carbondale

CARBONDALE Ill. (WJPF) – A suspect has been arrested for a shooting in Carbondale.

On Wednesday May 17th at about 3:50pm officers responded to the 500 block of East Willow Street for reports of gunfire. At the scene, they found a person with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Officers discovered another male on scene trying to get away. The suspect dropped a bag during a brief chase, which turned out to be holding a firearm. The suspect was caught and identified as 19 year old Marshun Johnson of Carbondale.

Johnson was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.

The incident is under investigation.
