Three arrested on meth charges following Marion traffic stop

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Three people were arrested on illegal drug charges after a traffic stop in Marion.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated the traffic stop Wednesday near the intersection of Route 13 and Russell Street and noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in deputies finding a thermos containing 116 grams of methamphetamine.

Anthony Thompson, Cory Houghlan, and Sydney McClelland were taken to the Williamson County jail.  All three were cited with possession of 100-400 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.  Houghlan faces additional charges of possession of 100-400 grams of methamphetamine, failure to signal when required, and improper lane usage.  McClelland faces additional charges of possession of 100-400 grams of methamphetamine, possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
