The Boston Celtics announced on Sunday they had signed former John A. Logan star and 2019-20 NJCAA Player of the Year Jay Scrubb to a two-way contract.
In five games with the Celtics this summer, Scrubb has averaged 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and shot 40% from beyond the arc.
The 6’5 guard has appeared in 24 career NBA games and started in one of the games with the Los Angeles Clippers (2020-22) and Orlando Magic (2022-23). He has a career average of 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds.
He was drafted straight from John A. Logan College with the 55th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, becoming the first Junior College player selected in the NBA Draft since 2004, when Southeastern Illinois’ Donta Smith was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 34th overall pick.
