MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – A juvenile has been detained in connection to a shooting in Marion.
Marion Police say a man was shot in the abdomen around 12:00 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of North State Street. He is expected to recover. A male juvenile was detained; a gun was found in his possession.
The shooting indirectly injured two more people. While driving to the scene, a Marion Police officer was involved in a traffic crash at the intersection of DeYoung and Court Streets. Both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
