Carterville QB Skelcher sets multiple records in 43-26 loss at Murphysboro

Carterville Lions quarterback Brandon Skelcher has been far and away the top passer in Southern Illinois this football season.  The Lions QB has set Little Egypt on fire and despite a loss at 43-26 Murphysboro on Friday night, the senior still had himself another good night and set new school records.

Skelcher set the single-season passing record at Carterville in the loss after tossing 191 yards, completing 13 of 23 passes.  That puts his season total at 2,032 passing yards in the 2023 season through eight games.

Skelcher is also the first Lions quarterback to ever surpass the 2,000 yard mark in a season.

The Lions senior quarterback has completed 142 passes on 212 attempts (66.98% completion percentage) for 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.  Skelcher has only been sacked 7 times in eight games as well

Skelcher and the 6-2 Lions wrap up the regular season at Anna-Jonesboro on Friday, October 20.
