ST. LOUIS – SIU’s Olivia Herron was named the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. The honor marks the third of her career and the first weekly honor for the swimming and diving program this season.
Herron had two NCAA “B” cuts out of her three individual first place finishes against Northwestern and Miami (FL). Herron’s first place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.40) and the 200 breaststroke (2:12.19) earned her the NCAA “B” placements. Herron’s other first place finish was in the 200 IM with a finishing time of 2:01.69.
Olivia Herron has been victorious in the 100, 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM at every meet this season so far. Herron is a Sophomore from Manchester, England and currently holds the school record for the women’s 200 breaststroke.
Herron and the Salukis will compete next on Nov. 3 at Lindenwood.
