CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WJPF) – A months-long narcotics investigation in Williamson County has resulted in the arrest of a man who police say is a member of a Chicago street gang.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office believes that 51-year-old Antoine Winston is a member of the Gangster Disciples and the third such gang member arrested this year in Williamson County. All three arrests are connected to the narcotics investigation.
The WCSO says on the afternoon of March 5, deputies searched Winston’s home on Glenn Avenue in Carterville and found packaged crack cocaine, digital scales, and other supplies commonly used in the sale of illegal drugs. Police also seized nearly $3,500 in cash, believed to be the proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs.
Antoine Winston was arrested on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s due back in court on April 24.
In January, two men, Victor Hurd and LaShawn Walker, were arrested at a home in Colp under similar circumstances.
