Carbondale Woman Facing Murder and Arson Charges

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A Carbondale woman is facing murder and arson charges.

24 year old Lakesha Ross was charged with three counts of first degree murder and one count of aggravated arson for her involvement in a residential fire in Carbondale.

On March 21st, police received a report of a structure fire in the 500 block of South Rawlings Street and a victim with life threatening injuries. The fire was identified as arson.

The victim, 45 year old Brandon Coofer of Murphysboro, was transported to a local hospital. He died on April 16th due to his injuries.

Ross was arrested on April 26th and is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail with no bond.
