SIU center Cade Hornecker, a 7’0 sophomore who struggled with injuries the past two seasons, announced Wednesday he is transferring to Abilene Christian University.
Hornecker suffered a lower-body injury last offseason that prevented him from ever seeing the court in 2023-24. His freshman season (2022-23), Hornecker saw limited time – averaging 4.4 minutes in 11 games. He averaged 1.5 points and 0.9 rebounds that year.
Hornecker, an Amarillo, TX native, has three years of eligibility remaining.
He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on March 18.
