Two arrested in Mt. Vernon narcotics investigation

MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A multi-jurisdictional narcotics investigation has resulted in multiple arrests in Mt. Vernon.  

The nearly year long drug trafficking investigation, which included numerous purchases of narcotics by undercover agents, was conducted by the Mt. Vernon Police Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois State Police, the United States Marshalls Service, and the FBI.

 

 

 

 

Taylor

The Mt. Vernon Police Department says search warrants were served on Friday resulting in four arrests.  Among those arrested were Dantrez Brown, 28, and  Joevon Taylor, 39.  According to MVPD, Dantrez Brown was arrested in charges of manufacture/delivery of Cocaine (1-15 grams) near a church/school and possession of fentanyl.  Joevon Taylor was arrested on three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and obstructing justice/destroy evidence. 

 

Authorities say this was the first round of arrests for this investigation. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
