CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A man has been charged with murder after a shooting at a Carbondale mobile home community.
According to The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Autumn Cole, 43, of Carbondale, was shot around 12:15 a.m. Saturday at the Southern Oaks mobile home community. She died at a hospital Sunday from her injuries.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Timothy Gassel, 32, of Murphysboro, near the scene and initially charged him with aggravated battery with a firearm; the charge was upgraded to murder after Cole’s death.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 25.
