Police Investigate Two Shootings in Herrin

HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – Police are investigating after two shootings in Herrin. 

On July 3rd around 1:35am police responded to the 600 block of S 12th Street for a report of shots fired. Officers learned the house had been struck by a single round that entered the front of the residence. All those inside the home were uninjured.

Then at 11:05am police responded to a report of a house shot in the 700 block of W Tyler Street. Officers spoke with the resident of the home and witnesses to the shooting. A gray Dodge Avenger was observed leaving the scene after firing multiple shots at the residence. No one inside the home was injured. 

A vehicle with the description was located on W. Oak Street. When approaching the residence where the vehicle was located, multiple males and females fled on foot. Multiple subjects have since been identified that are believed to be involved.

Police believe both incidents to be related and are contained incidents to the parties involved with no threat to the public.

Investigations are ongoing.
