ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Lucy Horn of the Southern Illinois University women’s soccer team was named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Defender of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Horn recorded her first goal and assist as a Saluki on Sunday against Valparaiso. The defender scored the first goal of the game, giving the Salukis a 1-0 lead, and assisted on the game-winning goal as Southern Illinois defeated the Beacons, 2-0. Horn also recorded her first shot and shot-on-goal against Valparaiso.
At UIC on Oct. 3, Horn played the entire 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw against the Flames. This was the sixth time this season where Horn has helped the Salukis hold an opponent scoreless while also playing the full 90 minutes.
The fifth-year defender from Penicuik, Scotland, has started and played in all 13 games this season, logging a full 1,170 minutes.
