Man in custody after firing multiple rounds in Johnston City

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A man has been taken in custody after firing multiple rounds in Johnston City.

Johnston City Police and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of west 5th Street around 10am February 2nd.

The victims were in their home when they heard multiple rounds coming from a neighboring residence and hit their home. 

The suspect Shawn Rogers barricaded himself inside the residence for around 2 hours before he finally surrendered.

After processing the scene, investigators discovered Rogers had discharged dozens of rounds inside his bedroom. The rounds traveled through the bedroom wall, through an adjoining sunroom, and departed through the exterior wall and glass window before striking the neighbors residence.   Three firearms were located and numerous magazines, holsters, and rounds of ammunition.

Rogers was cited for Possession of Firearm Without FOID, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Criminal Damage to Property, and Reckless Conduct.
