Silent Auction Charity Event to benefit Perry-Jackson Child Advocacy Center
April 25 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Southern Illinois University Carbondale is proud to announce a student-led local silent
auction charity event to benefit Perry-Jackson Child Advocacy Center. The
mission of Perry-Jackson Child Advocacy Center is to coordinate the timely,
comprehensive team response to child sexual abuse and all other forms of child
maltreatment. Public Health Teacher, Jenna Jamieson, coordinated the trading project
and provided support along the way to help students bring their silent auction to life.
Jamieson says, “It’s an awesome way to get the students involved in their own
community while teaching them valuable communication, teamwork, and time
management skills through the trading project. It’s all about giving back locally, and
students get to see what it is like to help others, which gives purpose beyond and
outside of the classroom.”
Jamieson works as a Public Health Teacher at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
She is in her tenth year of teaching, having experience in elementary, secondary, and
post-secondary levels of education. Jamieson has a passion for volunteer work and
even wrote a book, Giving Back, detailing her passion for helping others in the
community.
There are several amazing baskets including local gift cards totaling over one hundred
and fifty dollars, SIU gear basket, Mother’s Day baskets, and many others. Light
refreshments along with the SIU Public Health photo booth and spin the wheel will also
take place to raise money. All business leaders, community members, school staff and
faculty, as well as parents are encouraged to come support this local charity and this
amazing class. The Silent Auction will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from
4-5:30P in the Student Center on the second floor in the International Lounge. For
